The Government lms every right to expect that a reasonable and well-con-vened scheme to place a greater share of the cost of providing good roads upon the class of transport which has made that provision necessary, will he received in a Kelpful .spirit by those who will have to pay more for the pleasure, or for the hotter business facilities, which the motor vehicle gives them. It- is only beating the air to make speeches about the necessity of relieving the farming community of its burdens and at the same time expect the land which produced the country s wealth to continue to pay for .50 per cent, of the road improvement necessitated liy the growing use of the motorcar.—“ North Auckland Times.”
