Hie story is one of a red-blooded American boy who tries to convince his sweetheart's horse-loving father that automobiles are not so harmful' as he minks. Following tiie failure of ilr.' father's favourite mount to run in tlie money at tiie famous Tin Juana track,
MeDonnkl enters the San Diego speed classic and races to fame. With the money obtained from the rate he pays off the father’s debts and wins his approval as a son-in-law. Here are just live of the many hundred thills in "The Speed Demon ” :—(1) The rescue of Peggy -Montgomery hv Kenneth .McDonald and his mechanic gives the production an opening thrill that is alone worth the price of admission to any fan. (2) The smuggling of the jockey just before the big horse race furnishes moments of thrilling suspense seldom equaled in screen history. (3) The lmrso race is an entire picture in itself. In this scene one does not see ordinary horses run round a “ motion picture race-track.” The scenes were actuai'ly taken at the famous Tin Juana track in Mexico with the best horse-blood in America taking part, to) The thrilling ride by Kenneth .McDonald and his mechanic from Tin Juana to the San Diego race track actually filmed along the road between Tia Juana and San Diego, California—right on the exact locale of the story.
The supports on Friday are a topical, comedy, and “ The Radio Detective (serial). On Saturday Jack Holt, Ernest Torrence and Esther Ralston in " The JSlind Goddess.”
