(By Telegraph—Per Press Association. MOTOR CYCLIST’S DEATH. MASTER TON, Sept. 19. At tho inquest this afternoon on Tlaylock, who died from injuries received in a motor accident on the Fcatherston-Cross. Creek Road, the Coroner returned a verdict of accidental death, and added .hat the accident was undoubtedly due to the excessive speed at which tho deceased was riding his motor cycle over a newly-metalled road. FIIEWEN’S FLIGHT UNCERTAIN. AUCKLAND, Sept. 19. It is considered unlikely that Lieut. Frewen’s flight from Kempsey, New South Wales, to Auckland, will be made to-morrow. The Auckland representative of the Oil Company interested in the flight received no advice to-day, arid it is thought probable that Lieut. Frowen is waiting for an improvement in the weather. THE COLOUR BAR. WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. Permission to fight in New Zealand was refused the light-weight coloured boxer. Johnny Hall, by the New Zealand Boxing Council last night. Tt was stated that the policy of the Council was to refuse licenses to coloured people, with the exception of Maoris.
FALSE PRETENCES
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 20. Mathick Joseph Doliney, singi’o, 50, pleaded guilty to-day to being a rogue and vagabond, in that between June 11th and August 28th lie imposed on the (it mens’ Relief Depot by false representation, so obtaining food and clothing. The police evidence showed that accused had £354 in the Savings Bank at the time when he applied for and secured £2 10s in relief. The defence was that tho man had been unemployed and thought he was entitled to relief. After tho case had been adjourned for a time, the Magistrate said accused would ho convicted and ordered to come up for sentence, provided he paid ill) to the Unemployment Fund.
PRISONERS SENTENCED. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 20. Prisoners sentenced by Mr Justice Sim to-day were: Malcolm Nathaniel Boyd, 23, breaking and entering, reformative detention for three years. Aloysius George Murphy, 18, breaking and entering, sentenced to three years Borstal, to he concurrent with a sentence of three years passed recently*
HON A. D. McLEOD. PUKEKOHE, Sept. 20. Hon A. D. McLeod arrived at Pukekohe this morning from Wellington and after a short tour of the Raglan electorate met a big crowd of Reform supporters of the northern portion of the electorate, and was engaged in receiving semi-private deputations in the morning. He leaves for Waiuku in the afternoon where lie speaks to-night. To-morrow he proceeds to Ngnruawliia and on Fridav will visit Tuakua.
TR ADER S’ CONVENTION'. ROTORUA, Sept. 20. The Motor Trades Association and Wholesale Traders* Tenth Annual Con'vention opened this morning under the Presidency of E. Reynolds, of Wellington. The Mayor, Air T. McDonnell, welcomed the visitors and appealed to the delegates sympathetically to consider the road questions affecting the district. After a brief session, the delegates went on a siglit-seeing tour.
INQUEST VERDICT. CARTERTON, Sept. 20. At the inquest on Reginald Haylock. single, aged 20, held at Greytown, the evidence showed deceased in company with M. Doohan anil AY. ATontieth was riding a motor cycle and side car on Saturday evening when it skidded on loose metal and collided with a motor lorry. Deceased was pinned beneath the cycle and the sidecar, liis head being seriously injured, left elbow broken and severe internal injuries. He died at Grevtown Hospital. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
