He believes he must take on a considerable number of engagements before he is again matched with leading fighters, and is seeking to do so before trying for a return match with Finnegan, Mid a, matjcih mi till lied Chapman. If sufficient fights are hooked his English visit may .be cancelled. NEW YORK, Sept. 17. Chicago reports state that the prevailing intense heat has interfered with the training programmes of Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney. The ex-champion is having night boxing sessions. To-night Dempsey knocked out one. of his six partners, showing some of h.is old-time form.
Tunney, on the other hand, considers himself to be ready, and he has lightened his work. Tunney says that he will this time attempt a knock-out, so as to correct the impressions that the late Philadelphia fight did not flatter his ability. The odds at present favour tho champion.
