(By Telegraph—l’er Press Association.) LOCAL BODY L(Lu>S. AYELLINOTON, Sept. 15. At a meeting of tlie Local Government Loans Board yesterday thirty applications for loans totalling £-192,315 were dealt with. Three loans, amounting to £1950 for unemployment relief works, were sanctioned, and one for £2BOO was declined, on the ground that the i'oan should he subject to a poll of ratepayers. Four renewal loans for £219.000 were sanctioned for £213,872, balance to he paid off. Eighteen new loans, amounting to £221,165, were also sanctioned for £169,416, subject to conditions where the hoard considered such desirable. Four other loans, amounting to £47,400, wero either declined or referred back to the local authorities concerned.

DAIRY OUTPUT. AUCKLAND, Sept. 15. Speaking at the Auckland Provincial Conference of the Factory Managers’ Association, Mr O’De.u, North Island supervising grader, said that although the present dairy season commenced early the quality of the produce was only fair, and not quite up to that of the corresponding period of 192 G. The weather had been the responsible factor. Production had started with an increase throughout New Zealand of 30 per cent in butter and GO per cent in cheese above last year. Prices were good, and the industry was about to turn the corner about which so much had been beard. Seven years’ hard labour was imposed bv Justice MacGregor on Joseph Nicliolls, labourer, 3G, who pleaded guilty to breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime. Accused had a bad record. James Perry, 3G on a similar charge, and also on three charges of breaking entering and theft, was given five years’ imprisonment oil each charge, concurrent. The prisoner, it was mentioned', is awaiting trial on a charge of arson.

MAN DISAPPEARS. DUNEDIN, Sept. 16. A young married man named Frith, with two children-], and employed by Air M. Jamieson, a grocer at AYaikotiaiti. left his home at AA'aikouaiti early yesterday morning, and has not been seen since. Search parties have been out since yesterday afternoon. Frewon, who proposes to cross tho Tasman by aeroplane from Brisbane to Auckland, making a mid-ocean stop at Norfolk Island. The flight may he made early next week. Auckland agents for the, CHI Coy interested in tho flight have, already selected a landing ground at Mange re. MAIL ROBBERY ACCUSED. AUCKLAND, Sept. 16. Arrangements have been made for departure on tho Ruuliine for London to-morrow, of Joseph Foster, who was apprehended by the Hamilton police recently in connection with the Carddl London £IO,OOO mail train robbery on February 2. Foster arrived from AVellington to-da.v in charge of a eon-j stable ,‘and was placed in custody at tho Auckland police station. It is understood that he will travel on the 'lUiahine without police escort, no «d----ficor having been sent from England for this purpose, but that the Captain of tlie Runhine will accept charge ol him.
