(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) CHARGE OF GRAFT (Received this clay at 10.25 a.m A SYDNEY, Sept. 16. A grave charge, alleging graft against certain mi-named members of the Parliamentary Labour Party was made by P. .L Minehan, an Independent Labour Candidate, who is opposing Mr Lang at Auburn. Minnlian, in the course of bis address, said that the alleged corruption occurred when the Liquor Amendment Bill was introduced in the State Assembly. On that occasion £30,000 was distributed, some to the Legislative Council and the remainder to the caucus.

NATION OF SPEND-THRIFTS.

MELBOURNE, Sept. 10.

During the hearing of a case m the Commonwealth Arbitration Court, Chief Judge Dethridge said: “I am inclined to think we are a nation of spend-thrifts and are going to he pulled up with a heavy reckoning very soon.” His remark was prompted by Counsel referring to Australia’s unfnvourabe trade balance, when arguing that the progress of her secondary industries in Australia is not accompanied by a decline of imports, as a result of increased activity.

NEWSPAPER STRIKE. PERTH, Sept, 1G

The newspaper strike continues. Tlie composite paper issued now comprises four journals, and bears the titles: “West Australian, Dairy News, Call and Truth.” It is printed in a four page style of five columns wide. Little difficulty is experienced in producing the issue. Linotype operators, who are still on duty raised no objection to setting the copy, but the other Departments refused to handle the publication. However, ample provision is made to meet such an emergency.
