WESTLAND PRESBYTERY
'file half-yearly meeting of the "Westland Presbytery took place yesterday at Greymoutli there being present the Revs. T. N. Cuttle (Moderator), A. -Miller (clerk) and J. W. Hayward ministers; and Messrs Folley and Blown, elders. Mr Dibbs, home missionary from Totara Flat, also was present.
A resolution of sympathy with tho relatives of the late Rev. R. M. MeDowall, who formerly was minister at Reefton, was carried. Reports from the following mission stations "er. dealt with and recommendations as to grants and agents made: Totara Flat, Denniston, Granity, and Kuniara. HokiiiKa congregation wx.s congrntuhated upon having risen to the status of a self-sustaining charge. Various remits from the Assembly were considered ; that upon the question of women being admitted to the eldership being disapproved by the Presbytery. The y remit also upon the raising of certain home missionaries to the full status of the ministry was disapproved and the recommendation made that each case should be dealt with on its merits. The Rev. D. D. Scott, of Oneliunga, was nominated as Moderator for the . General Assembly of 1928. The Revs. A. Miller and J. W. Hayward (ministers) and elders from Grevinouth and Reefton were appointed representatives to the assembly in November. The Presbytery decided to hold Rs next regular meeting at Grevmouth in March.
