M hat appears to lie a definite .step towards an understanding between the Liberal and Nationalist political forces is the announcement made to-night of the selection of the candidate to contest the Raglan bye-election in the Liberal interests. Mr Thomas Parker, of Ngaruawahia. has been chosen as the Liberal nominee and it is sard there will be no Nationalist candidate.
