CHINESE TROUBLE.
A PIRATE STRONGHOLD. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. SHANGHAI, Sept. 2. A naval expedition, which" has returned from Dias Bay, reports that its landing parties were compelled to wade waist deep when they proceeded to some pirates’ headquarters. Tho villagers and pirates flew to the hills, offering no opposition. Fifty houses were destroyed, and warning notices were posted stating an intention to make similar reprisals for future piracies on British ships.
