WOMAN FOUND DEAD. MASTER-TON. S'epl, ft. Eli/.ab('lit Laing. a mnrricd woman, aged about sixty, was found dead in lad in her heme this afternoon. It is believed her death took place about eleven days ago. Her husband had been away at a farm attending lambing operations for three weeks and a failure to get an answer t.o- telephone calls aroused suspicion. The doctor stales di-ath was clue to heart failure. There will be an inquest to-morrow.
OLD ALAN’S SAD END. CIfIRTSTCHURCH. Sept, 9. Frank S’liackleton, an old age pensioner, was found seriously injured, and died in the hospital to-day. At tlio inquest to-day. tbo Coroner found that Shackleton died of Cerebral injuries, received when be fell down tfie (liff in having evidently thrown himself over tho elifF while suffering severe mental depression. Evidence was given that Shackleton was subject to fits of depression. He had been an inmate of tho Christchurch DepotOld Men’s Home recently, and' had left the home on September 1 without telling anyone where he was going.
