A telegram from Wellington to-day records the death of Air P. S. AY aidio, Chief Clerk of ilie Public AYorks Department. Deceased was a nephew ol the late Airs Batchelor, of Arahurn. and in the early ’nineties was stationed at Greymouth. where he took a prominent part in the activities of the Grey Cricket Club. Last year during the visit of the Alelbourne cricket team he was the principal in a scene on the Basin Reserve when as umpire after a dispute he left the field.
