THE AIR MISSION
HOKITIKA VISIT ABANDONED. Late yesterday afternoon the Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry) received a telegram from Major Wilkes at Christchurch, stating that the attempt to get through by car to Hokitika yesterday bad failed owing to the road being blocked, and in view of the limited time available the visit of the Air Mission to Hokitika would have to be abandoned.
The party was not able to leave Christchurch by the express for the Coast, as some of the members flow in the forenoon from Blenheim i" Christchurch. It appears only a brief time was devoted to the South Island. to be spent mainly in the Marlborough and Canterbury districts. Had the party got through yesterday they would have had to return east fudav Actually, however, the parly was keen to see the Coast, so as to make sure of its physical feature,, and regret lias been expressed at their inability to make the trip just now.
