EXPLOSIVES IN COAL
“Enquiries and experiments are 'being made by the .Mines and Explosives Departments and in the cotirso of a few days I hope to make a statement covering the whole question,” said the Minister for Mines (Mr Anderson) in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, when -replying to a question relating to explosions resulting from the use of State coal in household ranges.
The questioner (Mr T. E. Y. Sec!don (Westland), said that in a homo at Greymouth, where coal from the State mine was used, an explosion had occurred, but fortunately the occupants of the house had not been injured. The range had been damaged, and the consequences would Have been serious had anybody been standing in front of the stove at the time.
