A message from Wilmington (California! states that Roy A [on re meets Alike Hector, a former navy middleweight champion in a 10-rounds bout to-night. SYDNEY, Sept. 8. At the Stadium. Charlie Purilv (9.10) outpointed Johnny I’ilkingtou , (9.7!) in a fifteen hounds contest. The American attacked furiously in the first few rounds scoring well with rights to the head. The Now Zealander evaded a number of wild rushes cleverly, but was almost outed by a terrific right to the jaw in the second round. Tn the next round Purdy I attacked and scored well with lefts to the body but another right steadied him and be was compelled to clinch. For the next six rounds, Purdy stemmed vicious attacks of the American with successive lefts to the face, but in the next round be was badly punished. He recovered, however! and until the thirteenth round scored a majority of points. For the next two rounds he took things quietly and finished wftli a good margin of points in his favour.
