The New South Males AVaratahs Rugby Fifteen played their first practice match of the tour defeating Plymouth Albion by 2L to 11. '1 bey gave a good exhibition. LONDON, Sept. 7. The AVnratahs at Plymouth proved themselves to be past masters at quick passing at high speed and gave a good exhibition of speed co-operation, bursting through determined opposition. At a meeting of the Management Committee of Auckland Rugby Leaguelast evening a cablegram was received from the St. George Club, Sydney, stating it was abandoning the tour of New Zealand. On the recommendation of the Advisory Committee, it was resolved to await a reply to tlio message requesting St. George Club to give the matter further consideration on a £4OO guarantee.

Davidson was appointed representative of the Auckland league in conjunction with South Auckland and Wellington representatives in selecting the North Island team to play at Auckland on Sept. 24tli. It was agreed to extend an invitation to Bidler, whose team was successful against Canterbury and AA T est Coast to play against Auckland representatives, should St. George not paj its visit. •

The three games that Manawhenua contested at Palmerston with the Runfurly Shield at stake drew large attendances: Taranaki game £SBO, AA r anganui £565 and yesterday £BSO, totalling almost £2OOO sterling profit to Manawhenua Union. It means it will he able to carry out a southern tour next season without embarrassment.
