(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON. Sept. 8. In tlie Legislative- Council, the War Disabilities Removal Bill and Savings Banks Amendment Bill were received from the House and read a first time. Tho Council adjourned at 3.35 p.m.

THE HOUSE. The IJousi? met At* 2.30 p.m. The afternoon sitting of the House was fully occupied with a discussion on the Forestry Department's report, the discussion being unfinished at 5.30. At the evening sitting, the Daylight Baking Bill, introduced hv Mr McCombs, was read a second time on the voices and referred to the Labour Bills Committee.

The House then went into committee on the Legislature Amendment BiVI No. 2, introduced by the Leader of the Opposition. A division was called for on the question of the short title to the bill, which resulted in the clause being struck out .by 39 to 18. The Chairman of Committee then intimated it was'customary under such circumstances for the member in charge of the bill to move to report progress. This Mr Holland refused to do, but after soine debate it was agreed to take the Speaker’s ruling as to whether the bill with the short title struck out could proceed. The Speaker riii'ed that the striking out of the short title by a vote of Hie committee was equivalent to the killing of the bill and St would be futile to proceed with it. "The bill was dropped.

The Committed then proceeded to discuss the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Bill, introduced by Mr Howard, but the Chairman ruled that as it contains an appropriation clause, it c-oul'd not proceed. . On the House resuming both hills were struck off the order paper. The House rose at 11.50 till 2.30 p.m.
