FOOTBALL.
WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union was held last, evening at Greymoutli. ' iettoi- was received irom ( antcrbury Union thanking liio Grey and Hokitika teams for kindness extended to their touring team. A letter was also received from Asblmrton Union thanking the Union and tho United Club for kindness extended to their touring team.
A. letter was received front Westland Sub-Union re Bannister, and it was resolved to advise that this Union, although not accepting Bannister’s excuse as satisfactory, now consider that sufficient punishment lias been meted out for his omission and that the selectors he instructed to consider him for future rep fixtures.
Messrs MeTntosh. Adams and Robertson were apuoinied a- committee to go into question of Scddon Shield rub :-, and report- to next weekly meet-
W. MoLean was reinstated to the code. It was decided that a letter of appreciation he sent to the Canterbury Union for assistance rendered to Const I’n >’ hal] during the season. It was resolved to request flic SubUnions to forward fbe names of men available for the South African trial match P.niler-Const Combined v. Nel-son-ATarlborougli Bays Combined to ho played at Westport on Saturday, September 17th. the names to he in by Saturday next, as the team will be selected on this coming Saturday evening Tt was decided to submit the names of the following referees to duller for selection; Messrs Cut.bush, lleeunn, Williams and MeTntosh.
