FOOTBALL.
AVEST COAST v. BULLER. The return home-aud-liome match between Buller and AVest Coast, to be played at Greymouth on Saturday next promises to be one of the interestcontested games of the present season. Tlie previous fixture between the teams played at AVestport, resulted in. a victory for Buller by a narrow margin. The following is tho West Coast
team:—Full-back, Nightingale; threequarters, M. Jamieson, Tainui, Pfalilert; five-eightlis, Houston and H. Jamieson; half, Jenkins; forwards: Freitas, Bell, Devancy (capt.), Mclntosh, Caulton, Dougherty, King, Fell. Emerg: backs, McCrostie (Inangalvua) and AVhiley; forwards: Moynihau and Dow.
AYESTLAND SUB-UNTON. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER sth. The Sub-Union met at 8 p.m. Present": Messrs J. Stafford (Chairman), McDonald, Dowell, Cutbush, Moore, Heenan. MATCHES FOR- SATURDAY. Excelsior B. r. Kokatahi at 3 p.m. at Hokitika—Mr AV. Kearns, referee. Buller Rugby Union notified they would not he 'able to play a match at Hokitika, this tour, as their time was limited. —Received with regret. Tho Ashburton Union wrote thanking the Sub-Union for splendid hospitality extended to their team. —Received. The Rimu Club protested against Excelsior A. game on Saturday.—Received. It was resolved to write Lake Brunner Sub-Union for full particulars of players alleged to he affected. The Secretary submitted statements of Ashburton and Canterbury matches, receipts and expenditure. A number of matters were discussed. It was resolved to submit the names of Alessrs Heenan and Cutbush as referees for tho Buller match.
