BOXING champions. NEW” YORK. Sept. 3. A message from Chicago states Dempsey had a narrow escape from serious injure- to-day while boxing with Benny Kreuger. They were roughing it- along the ropes at- the training camp near here, when Kreuger fell backward through the ropes and Dempsov pitched after him, both missing a brick pathway. They were uninjured and resumed boxing. Four partners are engaged for Dempsey during four round 'sparring drill, and he finished the day with a cut and bleeding lower lip as the result of a fusilade of left jabs to which he was subjected. His lack of defence against left hand jabs was apparent throughout. Dempsey will continue boxing to-morrow and Monday, but will lay off the next two days. Tunnoy. who arrived at Chicago yesterday took up training quarters in a secluded suburb. He was idle today, and will do no sparring to-mor-row, but expects to begin ring work j on Monday. He has three sparring I partners,
