CH RT STC FT UHfJf L Sept. 3. Seventy riders competed in the 53 miles X.Z. amateur road race from Ashburton to Christchurch. The result was L. J. Pearce (14min) 1 K. Xankv.ell (7 min) 2, C. O. Voice (23 min) 3. The fastest time was that of L. G. I.ukey (scr). via., 2 lies 57 min 37 3-5 secs. ASHEt'TffON, Sept. 3. Leslie C. Thnckwell. of Nelson, was admitted to the hospital to-day suffering from internal injuries through a fall just after the start of the Ashburton to Christchurch road race. A number of the competitors hunched, due machine striking Thackwell’s front wheel.
