(By Telegraph—Per Press Association. LEAGUE OF NATIONS COMMITTEE. WELLINGTON, Aug. 30. Proposals for the establishment of a Parliamentary League of Nations Committee were placed before a largely attended meeting of members of the Legislature by speakers on behalf of the Dominion Council of the Union at Parliament House this morning. Tho Premier, Cabinet Ministers, and the Speakers of both Chambers were present. Sir James Allen introduced the speakers and stressed the worthiness of the object. After Professor Grant and Dr Gibb addressed the meeting. Sir James Allen suggested that a meeting of members of the Legislature might be lielcl to consider the formation of a committee. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speakers, on the motion of Mr Rolleston.
BRITISH AIRSHIP MISSION. AUCKLAND, Aug. 30. Owing to the wet weather to-day the members of the British Airship Delegation were unable to use an aeroplane for the purpose of inspecting tho country, to find a suitable site for a mooring tower for airships, and they continued their tour hv motor ear. Air M. A. Briblett, the meteorologist of the party, left for-Wellington, to-night.
FOUND RROtvrvFT). INVERCARGILL. Aug. 30. At the inquest held this afternoon on tho body of a man found washed ashoro at Toetoes Bay, near Fort rase, on Sunday, tho deceased was identified as Thomas Meighan, a greaser on the steamship lonic. He was a native of /England, and was last seen alive at Bluff on July 15. HEADMASTERS’ RESOLUTION. AUCKLAND, Aug. 31. A meeting of the Executive of the New Zealand Headmasters’ Association passed a resolution emphatically protesting against the aboil:' Eduction Boards or of further curtailment of their powers. LEAGUE CLUB OFFER. AUCKLAND, Aug. 31. C. R. Gregory (Marist Club’s fullback) has received a cable from AVarrinton League Club. England: “Cable your signing on terms.” Gregory states he has done so and would go if thev were accepted. He was fullback for the N. Z. League team, which toured England.
