MOTOR LORRY LICENSE. GIIEYAIOUTH, Aug. 30

The Greymouth Traffic Inspector proceeded against the British Imperial Oil Co., Ltd., for permitting a motor lorry to ho used at Greymouth without ii heavy traffic, license being obtained. It was admitted tho lorry was registered at Christchurch, defendants contending that the license was valid on the Coast, which view was supported by the Christchurch City Council. Air Mehlrum, S.AL, said tho license should have been taken also at Greymouth. as Christchurch and Greymouth were not in the same heavy traffic district.

'l'he ease was a test and a heavy penalty was not asked for. Defendants were convicted and fined £2 with costs. Tho decision aflects the Company's lorries at Ashburton anil Timaru.

INQUEST VERDICT. GISBORNE. Aug. 30.

At the inquest on Fiederiok Petei Druhe. who died whilst dancing at AL\kauri .school on I 1 riday night, medical evidence slated that the post mortem disclosed a rupture of the right ventricle of the heart, the muscle of which was degenerated. The verdict was in accordance with the medical test i mony.

OILFIELDS REPORT. GISBORNE, Aug. 30.

Taranaki Oil Fields report : AVaiapu No. 2 well at a depth of 2150 ft. in grey shale, with good showing of gas, BJin. diameter casing to 2140 ft. water increasing.

Gisborne No. 1 well, no progress has been made owing to a difficulty of un-der-roaming the 12Jim. diameter easing now running to the bottom. Drilling was resumed fo-dav.
