Inquiries into the affair of the missing stamps, apparently taken’from the letters brought over by Commander Byrd in the aeroplane. America, in which lie crossed the Atlantic, and posted in the usual way at Vor-sur-mer. where he came down in the sea, have not yielded any result. Not only were stamps taken or stolen hut a certain number of letters also are missing, ft is declared that the letters had been in the sea for some hours and a number of stamps which had become detached were found in the bottom of the bag. AYherever possible these stamps were stuck on again, but this could not have been very general as it is clear from the cancellation marks that, in nearly every ease the stamps again became detached later.
