WASHINGTON, Aug. 25. A deeison to extend for several days the search for the lost Pacific fliers was communicated to the Naval Department by Admiral Jackson, tho Commander-in-Chief of the Battle Fleet, although it had been intended to end the search to-night, as cabled on August 22nd. Thus far, all the reports of floating wreckage, lights and other signals indicating the whereabouts of the missing planes have been found untrue. LANDING CRASH. AIRMEN UNHURT. BLENHEIM. Aug. 27. Capt. J. L. Findlay and Sergt. Simpson, en route from Christchurch to Auckland in D.H. 50 crashed when landing at Blenheim. The machine was rather seriously damaged, hut both men were entirely unhurt. The aerodrome which is under a young crop appeared to he in good order, and the machine actually made a splendid lauding, hut tho ground in the centre of the field turned out very soft, the wheels sinking in. and the propellor struck the ground and the machine was overturned. Those present were relieved when the airmen crawled out unhurt. The mnehjnc’s propeller was smashed, the radiator ruined and the rudder was damaged and generally strained. The machine is now being dismantled and housed in a hangar awaiting repairs.
