SHADOWING COUNTY EMPLOYEES
(To the Editor.) Sir_ln your issue of the 23rd. inst. tliere appears an anonymous letter under the above heading. There cannot he the least doubt but that your cowardly correspondent is directing his attack to .vnrds myself. I would have teen quite unaware of this fact but for bis reference to a letter that was published in the Dairyman, just two rears ago. It is not necessary to detail the contents of that letter. It was written by myself and bore only my ordinary signature. However, the Editor, without my knowledge, made it appear anonymous by adding on bis own account the nom do plume A.8.C., and leaving out my name. If Profundity doubts this bo can watch his next month’s Dairyman as I will ask the Editor whether he or I made that letter anonymous. Personally, I made no secret of being the author, 01 T will say the outlaw. Now Sir. T am quite sure that every supplier of the
local dairy factory at that time was well aware that the letter published in the Dairyman at that time was written by me. It is therefore quite obvious to whom Profundity directs In's unwarranted, untruthful and cowardly remarks. Whether, as Profundity states, the County Council receives anonymous reports about County employees I know not. I can honestly say that I have never in my life, written any anonymous matter of any description to the Westland County Council or any other public body. Neither have I ever used in any correspondence, nom de plumes of alphabetical letters. May 1 ask Profundity why he would consign all anonymous letters to the waste paper basket, and yet uphold what he condemns by sheltering under an anonymous name himself? May T also tell Profundity, who cannot disguise his identity even by his misfit name that what really troubles himself and perhaps a few others is that I am too outspoken on some matters for their liking. It maybe a fault, but most people would prefer such to the contemptible underhand methods of such as Profundity. T am etc.. HER PEP, T A. PODDING TON. j Koiterangi, Aug. 25th. 1927.
