AMERICAN CABLE NEWS

AMERICAN OPINION. FUNERAL DISPUTES. (Australian & N.Z. Cablo Association.) IfToceivcd this day at 32.25 p.m.) NEW YORK, A 21. General calm prevails throughout the United States following the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti. This affords a singular contrast to the outbreaks in Geneva, Paris and other European centres. With the exception of the death of a State trooper (cabled yesterday) thero have been no fatalities and few demonstrations. Americans display little anxiety regarding European riots, believing these are not indicative of the real emotions of the countries in which they occurred, but that they are largely the work of extremists and criminal opportunists, who are using the executions for a pretext. 'Hie American Legion is proceeding with its plans for a convention in Paris regardless of tne disturbances, which the French Minister of Communications, Hoganowski, who is in New York, characterises as absurd.

Meantime their death has apparently not ended the dissention over Sacco and Vnnzetti, The Vatest dispute has arisen over the funeral arrangements. The State laws require either burial or cremation within four days, but friends of the deceased have declared they will defy the police and health officials and stage a monster funeral parade through the streets of Poston on August 28tti., when it is expected thousands will join in the procession, unless the authorities succeed in preventing it. After that sympathisers are planning to cremate and exhibit Vnnzettis’ ashes in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, and other ’cities and finally in Pome, white the remains of Sacco are likely to he buried by his widow in Massachusetts in unconsecrated ground. Vanzetti’s sister will accompany her brother’s ashes.
