CHRISTCHURCH, August 23. The st orv of an exciting elia.se after fi\v<> moil who had robbed a till in a fish shop was told to Mr Mosley, 'SAT.. in the Police Court to-day. when William Charles Grieve and Denis Michael O’Connell were jointly charged with theft of three pounds, the property of Roy Chapman. Grieve ins also charged with assault. All the charges were denied. The evidence of Chapman was that the two accused and another came to his shop and asked for oysters. Witness went to open seme, and Grieve followed him down the passage. When witness was going back to the shop, he heard the till lvell ring, and saw it was open. Most of the cash had been removed. Witness chased Grieve down the street, and the others joined in the chase, including a constable, and Grieve was captured. It was then that the assault occurred. For assault, Grieve was fined £2 and ordered to pay William Percy Garden ■£.> 5s for damage to his teeth in default, one month. On the theft charge, both accused were- convicted, and remanded for sentence.
