Jane Adams, America’s most noted feminist, will now appeal to the Supreme Court Judge, Mr Justice Stone, on behalf of the condemned men. The whole country seems to be divided into two camps, namely, those who are striving to secure another hearing of the case, and those who believe the men guilty.

NEW YORK. Aug. 22.

The Acting United States AttorneyGeneral. Mr Farnuni, to-day announced that he could not let counsel for the condemned men examine the files of the Department of Justice, in respect to the request cabled yesterday: hut he added that if Governor Fuller, of Massachusetts, or his advisory council, so desired, the accused’s counsel’ would he given immediate access. An appeal therefore lias been made to Governor Fuller for a delay of the executions and for an examination 01 the records, which, it is claimed, show that Federal Secret Service operatives have expressed the belief that Sacco and Vanzetti did not participate in the Braintree murder. NEW YORK, Aug. 22.

A report from Boston states that Senator Borah has ottered his services to the Citizens’ National Committee, which is conducting the defence of the condemned men. NEW YORK, Aug. 21.

Regarding Sacco and Vanzetti, even such a highly conservative newspaper as the “ New York Times ” expresses the fear that justice may not he done, saying: “What moves right-minded men in all this affair is simply the fear that legal technicalities and flic niceties of court procedure may have prevented the sun of justice from shining in full.” NEW YORK, Aug. 22. The condemned man Sacco, writing to his son, says: “They can crucify our bodies, ns they are doing; but they cannot destroy our ideas. These willremain for the youth of the future to come.” NEW YORK, Aug. 22. The Baltimore “ Sun,” one of the i’eading newspapers in the east, has telegraphed Governor Fuller of Massachusetts. a suggestion that he should have the President of the American Bar Association name a committee of lawyers to study the ease. The same newspaper also intimates the U.S.A. Secretary of State, Mr Hughes, could he selected for such a committee. AUSTRALIAN PROTEST. SYDNEY, Aug. 22. Posters have been stuck up in various parts of the city calling on the workers in all of the industries to cease work for twenty-four hours, commencing to-morrow, ns a protest against the execution of Sacco and Vanzetti.

The posters hear the name of Mr Jock Garden, the Secretary of the International Defence Committee. Mr Garden states that in addition to other employees, the seamen serving under Australian articles will also hold a slop-work meeting, as a protest against the executions. This will mean the holding-up of all work on the Australian-registered ships in the harbour, and also the prevention of the sailing of others that are due to leave port to-morrow.
