SHADOWING COUNTY EMPLOYEES

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Kindly ailow me space in your paper. Some few days ago in conversation with one of the employees of the County Council, he remarked that the Koiterangi “cockles” were a hard lot to pur up with. I naturally asked the reason: “Well,” he implied, “one

cannot look Heavenward without a report goes in.” 1 asked if that was really the ease, and lie replied that it was; and stated further that the Overseer comes and inquires into the information given oni'v to find that in most eases " A.B.C. is wrong.” Oh, isn’t it funny my pen will persist in writing those letters. M.v pen knows something. However my pen will describe A.B.C. later on.

Now, Mr Editor, nearly all those men employed by the Council are married men with families and the person who bv his actions would endeavour to take the bread and butter not only from man and wife, but the litle ones too, is too mean and contemptible for words.

1 would throw out a suggestion to the Councilors—whom I must admit are a very intelligent body of men—firstly, all anonymous letters he thrown in the waste basket; secondly, that the accused he given the right to defend himself against the accuser. 1 think that if this rule were adopted it would administer the coup de grace. Coming hack to “ A.8.C.,” you will notice that he has not learnt much of the alphabet. Some time ago “A.8.C.” as he then signed himself, wrote to the Dairyman about the action taken by our Kokatahi Directors, only to meet with a rebuff. Tt is the belief of the writer that this letter “ A.B.C. ” —take the “ C ” away and you have it as a frequent writer to the Council. ] am. etc.. PROFUNDITY. Koiterangi, August 20th.
