(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) BCR OLA IBS CLEAN SWEEP. AUCKLAND, Aug. 30. A daring burglary was committed in Dominion Road last night, when thieves broke into the premises of Richard John Cates, grocer, and stole over £IOO worth of tobacco, cigarettes and food stuffs. Although a night watchman patrols the shops, which are situated near a tram terminus, the activities of the intruders did not draw his attention. It is thought that the thieves had a motor car waiting at the front door tri carry the goods away. AA'itli the exception of a few sticks of tobacco, which were in a- box in the office, the whole of the Lihacco stocks were cleared.

Entrance was gained by removing a panel from a strongly-guarded hack door. This had been torn out in pieces, after a chisel had been used to cut- small openings in the wooden door.
