Supplies from most producing countries are tending to increase and the general trade of Britain is still unsatisfactory. It states it is unlikely that retail’ prices can be raised without affecting consumption. Producers must face the position. If they iiope to get the industry on profitable lines again, the solution is to be found not in the direction pi higher selling costs, but lower producing costs.
