(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) KILLED IN LIFT. AUCKLAND. Aug. 17. Thomas llolvert Alfred Smith, a postman. married, residing at 45, Cardwell St.. Oneluniga, received fatal injuries while operating a goods lift at the G.P.O. this morning. Through some unexplained reason he was caught between the lift and mail room floor. Smith was a returned soldier and for 22 years in the postal service. He intended to retire at the end of August and enter a private business. SIGNALLER’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, Aug. 17. Signaller H. T. Fluskey, 28, single, died from heart failure aboard the Diomedes at Pagopago on July 20th. He took part in swimming spurts in the morning ami appeared in good health, but expired suddenly in the afternoon and was buried at Pagopago with full military honours. CYCLIST HURT. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 17. While riding a motor cycle yostoreve, diaries Stevens, 24, collided with a car and received a broken leg and bad bruises.
