XEW ZEALAXI) VICTORIOUS. SVDXKV, Auy. Id. The Xew Zealand hockey team played their first match in Sydney, in fine bright weather. There were three thousand people present. displaying great enthusiasm. Xew Zealand won the toss, and played against a sliylit breeze with the sun at their hacks. The players took a little time to settle down, hilt the Xew Zealanders’ hittiny was on the erratic side. Xew South Wales, combining ■veil, kept the Xew Zealanders on the defensive. Xettleton and Abel yave an excellent exhibition. Xettleton drew lirst blood, nettiny cleverly. I lien. a. tew minutes before half time. In a Xew man Shield match on Saiurdav Inangahua defeated a West Coast team at Roefton by 2 goals to nil. after a good game.
