Advice has been received of the death of Mr James Gilmer, brother i f Mr Hugh Gilmer, Raupo, which took place in the Waipukurau hospital alter a short illness.

One of the most interesting developments in. connection with the dairying industry in the Waikato in the last year has been the phenomenal increase 'in the number of pigs that have been bred by farmers. Most of the pigs have been reared for the bacon trade and have been of the Berkshire-Tam-worth cross.
Fire destroyed the residence of Mr J. Forrest. Runanga at 2 a.m. on Monday morning, the fire having such a hold that Mrs Forrest and her two children were compelled to escape through a. window in their night attire Mr Forrest was absent at the time in Christchurch. The residence was insured in the Atlas office for £3.0. furniture £370, piano £llO, and gramaphone £4O making a total of £9OO.
