RICHES FROM RABBITS

TRAPPERS’ GOOD MONEY. Rev. TV. T. Brabvu. who has returned to the Tirnu district after conducting a two months’ missionary tour of the South Island, had some interesting comments to make regarding the extent of the rabbiting industry in some parts of Southland. He said very good money is being made by /rappers, some earning as much as £3O per week. Where formerly men had to be paid to destroy tlie rabbits they now chased the farmers and paid trapping rights. Speaking with regard to pastures. Rev. Brabyn said a curious condition had come al>out in some places wher* the fact of the rabbits having eaten the nrtfioial grasses close, had permitted the old native grases to reappear.
