Tension over tlio activities attributed to the sympathizers of Sacco and Vanzetti are steadily increasing, though it is believed the proportion of the alarmist acts originated in the minds of crazed persons. Fifteen, letters were received in this city threatening wholesale destruction, two la itig addressed to newspaper offices; the remainder to the largest buildings in Now York.

The letters said: '“We have enough explosives to destroy all New fork. The letters are signed ‘•Anarchists of "World for Freedom of Sacco and \ anzetti.”

'Hie police are dubious regarding tin authenticity but a bomb squad of de tectivos have been sent to guard Mont worth, the Equitable and other sky scraper buildings.

Meanwhile* the local Ha:co-Yanzef ti Committee is claiming that the letters have been forged for the purpose of discrediting the movement, and the Committee continues its plans for a general strike. President C'oolidge is still elaborately guarded. Secret Service men scan bed the Church on Sunday before III" President attended the service. Police vacations continue to he cancelled in many parts of the l nited States, and many public buildings, as well as residences of prominent officials everywhere, are guarded. A series of minor strikes have already begun, but in widely scattered regions, which are expected to increase as the time for the execution draws near. These extend as far west as California and south to Argentina. Meanwhile thousands of letters and telegrams are being sent to officials connected with the ease, and many not connected with it are either severely eritcizing or commending action on behalf of the condemned men.

Numerous appeals have also boon addressed to President Coolidge to which lie is not expected to reply.
