EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES ‘‘.THE BIG PARADE.” TO-NIGHT! TO-NICHT ! Metro-Golclwyn-Mnyer’s big film Ibe Big Panulo ” will lie screened nt the Princess Theatre again to-night. The story of the “ The Big Parade ” is as follows :—Jim * Apporson (John Gilbert), the son of a rich man, goes to the war with Si'im, a riveter, and Bull, a plain barman, as line mates. Host of the boys are eager to reach the front, not so Jim, who had met Melisande (Renee Adorec). The orders come to “go,” Jim. Slim, and Bull find themselves in a sheUbole. Orders came, a machinegun must be captured. Slim falls over the “ top ” under cover of darkness, and Jim goes to find his pal. AVlien he readies his friend, it is too late— Slim is dead. A terrible hatred fires him—he swears revenge. Regardless of the machine-gun bullets, he runs at the enemy. With the Armistice come thrilling days of peace and homo; but when there he found the girl he had left behind him is engaged to his stay-at-home brother. lie returned to France to find his lost Melisande working in the field just as he had first seen her and all ended happily. MISS NEW ZEALAND 1927. ARRIVING TO-MORROW. Advise is to hand that the ten limiiists of the Miss New Zealand 1937 screen contest will arrive in HoVil’ka to-morrow morning. Commencing tomorrow night at the Princess Theatre, for a season of two nights, the finalists. .Miss Auckland, .Miss Wellington, Miss Canterbury. Miss Otago and Miss Southland, and their -Maids of Honour, make a personal appearance on the stage, in screen and acting tests, in order to enable the patrons to judge their respective photographic and stage abilities. On entering the theatre, the patrons will be supplied with one voting coupon on which they wit? fill in the number of the girl they favour. On leaving the theatre all votes must be placed in the sealed ballot boxes in the entrance. The auditing and checking of all votes in Hokitika will be in the hands of Mr 0. J. Evans. County Clerk. The result of the voting will be published in the following day’s paper. The box plans for the season are !">■-• open at .Mclntosh’s, where heavy booking is being’re:orded, and patrons desirous of securing reservations are advised to hurry.
