A dance will be hold in the Throe ( Mile Hall on Wednesday. 7th September, in aid of the ball funds. Newmans Motors Ltd. are putting 1 on a special car to leave the garage at 1 10.30 o’clock on Monday forenoon to connect at Otira with the passengertrain for Christchurch, arriving in time for the Grand National race meeting. Intending passengers should book early. Patrons will be pleased to know that Mrs D. Dowei’l is back again at the Rendezvous where the same good old attention will he given to all. Whitebait suppers are now being served daily along with the other numerous delicacies Which has made the Rendezvous so famous in the past. Afternoon teas will again be specialised in with ham, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. The first month’s progress report on the work of constructing the coastal road to Westport proves favourable, there being good progress to show, in spite of difficulties in transporting everything to the locality. The first progress payment has been satisfactory and the’ Engineer is Well pleased with the work done under contract, the time for which is eight months, within which time the contractor expects to finish. -Mr John Tindale is the overseer on tlie job.
