DEATH OF MRS COULSON

The community will he shocked to learn, ol the sudden death of Mrs (’unison, wife of Mr H. M. Couison, ex-Deputy Mayor of Hokitika. Mrs Cyulson had a severe illness recently, hut recovered and was remarkably well again, moving about inneli as usual. Unfortunately early yesterday morning she had a sudden and unexpected stroke, and though medical aid was summoned and everything possible was done, never rallied, passing away early this afternoon. The late Mrs Couison was well known throughout the district. She was of a bright disposition and pliilantrophic to a degree. Mrs Couison was iv ready helper of all in trouble and will be missed by a large circle of friends and others to whom she was very much endeared.

A very sad aspect of her passing is -the albsence of her husband Mr 11. M. Couison, J.P. Mr Couison is away on holiday in the Northern Hemisphere. He was in Wales in late Juno and yesterday a cable was despatched through a London address to acquaint him of the very serious condition of his wife. To-day the sad news of her demise had to be telegraphed. It was part of the arrangement that Mrs Couison was to leave shortly for Sydney to join her husband there next month on his return from a world trip. ’ijiiero are two daughters and a son also bereaved. Miss Mary and Miss Netta Couison arc at homo. Master Max Couison was at school at Christchurch, hut on the serious condition of his mother being recognised yesterday, he was sent for urgently, and by special arrangements (aught the train at Springfield arriving hero last night. The utmost sympathy will ho felt for the bereaved by the community at large. Mrs Couison took a prominent part in all social movements, and was a ready helper in all pliilanthrophic work. She was a devoted worker of All Saints Church and in many ways about town did most useful work. Mrs Couison has lived all her married life in Hokitika, having arrived here originally with Mr and Mrs Empsom. exStock Inspector, to whom shu was related.
