Limerick competed in Australia during the spring .-ml autumn of the present sw-eii. Jn the spring he raced well, hut a cracked foot militated again-’, his chances. On returning in the autumn he proved himself to he the best three-year-old there. Commendation, on the other hand, was the bost-threo-year-old in New Zealand and est tbirthed a. new Australasian record for a mile and tbree-rjiiarters when he won the N.Z. Si. Leger Stakes at Trentliani. The meeting of these two in Australia will he looked to with interest and i.- sure to he the star feature of the forthcoming A..T.C. spring meeting. G. Jones stated that Commendation tt:ho is looking fit and well, has done a good deal of work and i- nicely forward for the balance of his preparation in arrival. So far no rider has been engaged for Commendation now that L. G. Morris is not going over, and the matter was discussed between Air AY. H. Gaisford and .Jones coming down in the I rain yesterday. A.s matters -land at present, the riding ’...•i1l he left over till Jones arrives in Pvdney. and has a look round nmong-t the eligible?. 8- far as AUCaiten is i -in-erned, the connections of the horse would lie satisfied to • -cure bis services in the Caulfield Cup. but they feel that the jockey who rides him at Rnndwick would no doubt desire to ride in all engagements, and AfcCarton will not be available at Randwick, as he will he on Limerick, hence the decision to wait and see il n suitable rider can lie secured for both his Sidney and Alelhnurne races.
