LEAGUE OF NATIONS
(Australian A- X.Z. Cable Association.) AUA IAM E NTS CO XF E REXCE > LONDON, July 29, Official circles in London deny that Air AY. (’. Uridgeman has reported any definite American refusal to accept Britain's modified naval proposals. Nevertheless, unofficial, but wellinformed quarters infer that Air Bridgenum’s report leaves little ground for optimism, and definitely prepares the Government for a final breakdown at Alomlay’s plenary session. Jlie Geneva press correspondents agree that the Delegations have not yet completely abandoned all hope of an agreement, hut state that pessimism is general in all the three camps. Everything now depends upon President Ccxdidge's reply, which is expected during the week-end. There is a suggestion that the Japanese are working hard behind the
scenes as mediators. The tonnage totals and the calibre of the guns are still the chief stumbling blocks to the Americans.
