RACING ITEMS. 'Australian Press Association & Sun.) WELLINGTON, July 27. Amongst the passengers by (lie Ulinmroa, from Sydney to-day was Mr G. M. Currie, the well-known New Zealand studmnster who has spoilt a two months’ holiday in Australia. While there he saw liis horse The Thorn run four times for two firsts, one second, and a third. Mr Currie, in common witih all Now Zealanders who racehorses in Sydney, was impressed by the centralisation of racing and the facilities for travelling when one had to go afield. Away from Raudwick the stakes were very poor, hut the betting was on a scale which made some I amends. All Sydney is waiting to see the meeting of Limerick and Commendation, and. according to Mr Currie. M. Mi Carton is anxious to secure the i ride on Commendation in the Caulfield Cup. a. race in which he has loft himself without a mount, pending the arrival of Coiumendnt ion from New Zealand.
