A POISONING
BUCHAREST, July 29. Six persons arc dead and twelve in a serious condition after partaking at the Chisinenn Society banquet, a portion of the food for which was accidentally prepared from Hour treated with strychnine for rats.

The Board’s reports of Empire shopping week reveal the market growth in Empire buying mentality.
A DIVORCE. LONDON. July 28
Lionel Tennyson, captain of the England team in 1921. was granted a decree nise owing to the misconduct of his wife with the correspondent, J. M. Beck, an American. Tennyson was given the custody of two children.
SOVIET’ DEATHS. PARIS. July 28
Reports from Berlin state the deaths of the Sovietors. cabled yesterday occurred in Braklava district in Ukraine, where it is alleged revolting villagers murdered them. Other accounts attribute the deatlcs to wilful poisoning. Many quarters affirm the Red terror is operating nil Ukraine where there has been one hundred and twenty executions since Monday.
BRITISH STRIKE NOVEL. LONDON. Julv 28.
Mr H. G. Wells’s long-expected strike novel, which is entitled “ Meanwhile,” has been published. It suggests that the Government deliberately fostered the strike, in order to win the General Election, and that it tried to persuade the soldiers and the sailors to club together and shoot down the strikers. The hero is Philip Eylamls. He voices odious insinuations against everyone who does not hold Mr Wells’s social, political and economicopinions.
