GENERAL CABLES.
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE HOI'STOX MILLIONS. LONDON. July 28. Lady Houston telegraphed to the Chancellor of the Exchequer that she desires, as an act of grace, to present to the Government her share of the death duties on her late husband’s large estate. At the same time she affirms that it is a mistake to assume that his fortune was made-in England. The bulk of it was made in South America. Moreover, there is no denying that her husband was domiciled in Jersey Islands. Lady Houston's telegram follows a recent statement in Parliament that tho Inland Revenue claim (which it is understood was being contested on the ground of domicile) was being pressed. Tlie late Sir AT. Houston left seven million pounds. The duties are estimated at three millions sterling
