Lord Ritchie in a speech at the Pen t, of London, authorising the annual inspection of London said the Authority was going on with the provision at Tilbury of a proper landing stage. By exercising the strictest economics, the Authority was reducing the charges two and a half per cent, making ten per cent in two years. Cold store managers stated they were not approached to emulate the New Zealand plan of keeping apples in the cold store at Southampton till the end of the season when the market was better.
PRINCE CAROL. (Received this day at 12.25 n.m.l PARIS, July 26. Prince Carol received a Roumanian delegation, headed by Professor Jorga (Lender of the National Party), who recently refused, agreement with the Premier over the subject of the Regency. The visitors remained for several hours. Special precaution? were taken to prevent the object oi the consultation lreing disclosed. The newspaper “Intransigeant” states Prince Carol has now abandoned his claim to the throne and is deeply chagrined because he was not allowed to return to Roumania.
