OFF TO CANADA
PHJXC.ES AND PREAITER. (Australian Press Association ifc Sun. LONDON, July 23. One hundred thousand people thronged the quayside cheering a farewell ns the liner Empress of Australia departed with the Prince of Wales, Prince George, Air Baldwin (Prime Minister) from Southampton. The Princes wore standing on the upper decks, and they smiled their nek nowledgements. Mr Baldwin, hatless, waved his pipe. The tugs and pilot boats assembled on Southampton water were decorated with hunting, and screamed farewells with their sirens, the crews standing to attention on the decks. The Empress of Australia was gay with llowers, including five thousand peonies, which a Canadian, Mr Ormiston Boy, had shipped in cold storage for use in decorating the Princes’ and Mr Baldwin’s staterooms. The Prince of Wales and Prince George had a quiet send off from Waterloo Station, on their departure for Canada. The Royal farewells were made the previous night at a Palace dinner, but the Duke of York was present at the station. A large crowd farewelled Mr Baldwin and party on the same errand. These two parties number thirty. Mr Baldwin’s last moment was spent in earnest discussion with Mr Bridgeman.
