HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL

FRIDAY. JULY 22nd. The Council met at 7.30 p.m. Present:—Alessrs (I. A. Perry (Mayor). G. Heinz. NY. Jeffries. J. King, A. C. Armstrong, T. AY. Duff, F.. AY. Ileenan and Dr Teichelmann. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. IN AY AR D ( ORE ESPONDENCE. From John Duthic, AVellington, and others, in regard to water supply pipes.—Received. Prom Jas. Park, Borough Solicitor, accepting Council’s renewal of terms ot retainer. —Received. From N.Z. Refrigerating Coy., Christchurch, notifying 3 cows and 18 sheep and lambs had- been sent to Hokitika for period.—Received. From Hokitika Fire Board referring matter of repairs to fire escape at Princess meatre for attention by Council.—Received ; left to Town Clerk to give the necessary notice. From District Engineer of Railways, in reference to drainage requirements near turntable and asking permission to connect with Borough drain pipes. —Received and request granted. From Hokitika Fire Brigade drawing attention to practice ot parking motor cars in vicinity of AA eld Street, near the tank.—Received. It was resolved to grant the request, cars not to he parked west of the right of way, and the police he asked to control motor traffic approaching near where fire is in

progress. From C. J. Nightingale, drawing attention to growth of blackberries in Brittan Street and asking for attention.—Received; referred to Public AYorks Committee.

From AA'estland Sub-Union asking permission to use C'ass Square tor Ashburton match on August 17th. Received and request granted. From Treasurer reporting receipts Cl3l 10s lOd. payments £292 Bs. credit balance £223 fis lid: loan aecount credit £ll7 7s Id.—Received. Accounts amounting to £l2O Is 4d

were passed for payment. The Council rose at 8.10 p.m
