IRISH POLITICS. LONDON. July 20

President Cosgrave is introducing a Bill in the Dail Eireann to provide for the late Mr O’Hi'ggins’s widow and orphans. The Government is also asking tlie Dail Eireann for exceptional powers to deal with the emergency arising from the murder of Air O’Higgins.

Three important measures are being introduced: The first gives the Free State Government power to create special tribunals to deal' M'ith cases or assassination. and with attempts to overtlirou- the State. It is possible that trial hv jury may he abolished aim those prisoners he tried in a mixed court of judges and military officers.

The other measure is designed to prevent the Deputies of Dail Eireann, who have not taken the oath or their seats from presenting petitions calling on the Government to initiate legislation. This would stop ATr De A"alore's party’s petition calling for a referendum regarding tho abolition of the Oath. This Bill makes it compulsory that candidates for Dail Eireann and the Senate shall make a declaration ro observe the Free State Constitution.

President Cosgrove stated that the third hill also gives a time limit for elected Deputies and Senators to take the oath and their seats. This will result in the seats of Air De Valera’s Party being declared vacant, unless they are prepared to take the oath and to enter Dail Eireann. DUBLIN, July 20. The Irish Free State has approved of designs for a new coinage, depicting Irish industries. The designs include a horse on the half crown, a salmon on the florin, a hull on the shilling, a hen and chickens on the penny, and a pig and fitter on the halfpenny.
