The President of the Aero Club lias announced that lie has requested the Commonwealth Government to grant a prize of five thousand sterling for a flight fom Australia to New Zealand. He added: “Unless Australia hurries, New Zealand will heat us in the flight. The Dominion Government has already offered to take over the machine used, at four-fifths of the price, which will spur on the New Zealanders to attempt the flight.”

I-roin a sleeping-bag alongside a tiny Avro-rtvian, Mrs Elliott Lynn, crept out at three yesterd ay morning at Mood lord Aerodrome, cranked up the engine unaided and left on a roundEnghuid flight before tho aerodrome staff were awake. The first hour was steered by moonri.se. By nine she had visited thirty places, the southerly limit being Southampton. She kept on averaging daily eighty miles hourly, made seventy-nine landings, refilled 7 times and also had eight snacks herself. She lost her map overboard at Gosport, but replaced it at the next stop. “'lwas a glorious trip, the sole object being tlfe demonstrating of the dependability of the aeroplane for business and pleasure.” She covered 1.250 miles and landed at 7.30 in the evening at Newcastle-on-Tyne. Courteney’s start was postponed till Thursday. As it result of half an hours’ trial flight this morning, to test the wireless, it was found that adjustments were necessary, which cannot he completed to-day.
