It is understood that all the important questions have been settled as between the British and Japanese delegations. on the basis that Britain’s cruiser and destroyer tonnage shall be five hundred thousand and Japan’s cruiser and destroyer tonnage 310,609 and 335.000. The Japanese accepted the 12—12 8 ratio for the ten thousand ton cruisers. They agreed that Britain and Japan .should have the same ratio in submarines. 'The only question left outstanding is the age limit for the auxiliary craft. Japan is proposing sixteen years. Britain propses twenty-four years. LONDON* July 18. It is reported from Geneva that Britain and Japan have practically arrived at an agreement on naval strengths.
